What are your favorite Waves plugins?

C6 Multiband Compressor on guitar, drum sub group; MetaFlanger for all flange and choruses (vocal and band); Renaissance Axx for guitar directs; and MaxxBass on the bass guitar.

Are you using any plugins on wedges / in-ears?

The drummer gets a sub mix from FOH with all processing and mixes his own ear via the PQ system.

What are some advantages of using Waves plugins?

Waves plugins opened up a whole new world. They are tools you can use every day and not just for special FX. They are the highest level of digital audio available today!

Are you recording or virtual sound-checking the shows?

Yes, every show.

What do you see as your main goal for the audience?

Reproducing what the artist is playing on stage clearly to the audience, while trying to maintain the sound of the album.

Do you have any unique plugin applications you’d like to share?

Mixing the pedal steel guitar on its own is a challenge itself, but adding other guitars and sometimes other steel guitars becomes really difficult. These guitars have massive dynamic range, and can become painful and harsh when dealing with multiple players. I got the C6 Multiband Compressor, put it on the guitar buss and tailored it to the mix—WOW!
