TransX: Total Translent Transformation
TransX is a unique dynamic processor that gives you control over transient duration and release times, to add punch, soften edges, and highlight sustain. TransX fixes and shapes transients, letting you change an instrument’s presence within the mix without affecting its original sonic character. Use it to tighten up the low end, add that missing punch to toms and other drums, and bring out the crispiness of hi-hats and percussion, or to soften the picking sound on bass guitar finger while retaining clarity and punch. The possibilities are limitless.
“TransX is amazing on drums, and is my secret weapon on complex instruments like acoustic guitars.”

TransX consists of two component plugins: TransX Multi & TransX Wide.
TransX Multi is best described as a special dynamic or transient equalizer, with four EQ bands separated at three crossover points: Low (from 40 Hz to 250 Hz), Mid (from 100 Hz to 6 kHz), and High (from 2 kHz up to 16 kHz). Each band offers Range and Sensitivity controls which establish the amount of processing, as well as global Duration and Release controls which define Attack and Release times for all four bands. When using TransX Multi, first adjust your Crossover points to set up the areas of the frequency spectrum that you’ll be working on, whether to add punch or smooth edges. Use the Range control to boost (up to +18 dB) or cut (down to -24 dB) each of your specified EQ bands.
On TransX Wide, push the Range control above zero for an in-your-face sound, or take it way down for a coming-from-next-door effect.
One of TransX’s most important features is its Sensitivity control, which sets the amplitude of the Attacks to be processed, from -10dB up to +10dB. It gives you the option to establish how sensitive will be the boost or the cut for this frequency band and the duration time is to determine attack time or velocity to be shaped. For example, if you want to catch drum transients, you’ll need shorter durations; for bass guitar transients, longer ones. Use your ears and the Release and Duration times to control the length of your sustain
Production Notes
Here’s how to get a punchy floor tom sound with a full low end and with a cool sustain, without just adding gain.
- Set up your floor tom channel as you would normally
do: gain, basic EQ, etc.
- Insert TransX Multi
- Set the Low crossover point to 80 Hz, the Mid point to
around 800 Hz, and the High point to 7000 Hz
- Push the Range of the Low band up to +12dB, with
Sensitivity at +9
- Push the Range of the Low band up to +12dB, with
Sensitivity at +9
- Leave the Low Mid band Range and Sensitivity
settings at 0
- On the High Mid and High bands, set the Range to
+3dB with Sensitivity at 0
- Set Global Duration to around 15, and Global
Release to 60
TransX is Available in Mercury, Diamond, & Live.
